Extracurricular Activities
Choir
Students in grades 5-8 can participate in the school choir, directed by principal, Armond Seishas. The choir focuses on liturgical music and sings at school liturgies and occasional special Sunday liturgies throughout the year. The St. Joachim School choir was the first school choir to sing at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland.
Band
M.U.S.E. Band Program is open to students in grades 4-8 who wish to learn a musical instrument. Students are placed in either beginning or intermediate band based on their experience. There is a fee for participation in this program.
C.Y.O. Sports Program
The CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) Program is a parish program, but is open to all students of St. Joachim School. Currently, boys basketball is offered in the Fall to students in grades 2-8 and girls’ basketball is offered for students in grades 2-8 in the Winter. Track in Field is open to students in grades K-8 in the spring. There is a participation fee for this program. More information can be found on the CYO website. http://www.metrocyo.org/
Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do is an afterschool program offered to students in grades K-8 enrolled in the school’s Extended Care Program. Tae Kwon Do is directed by Mr. Peter Salas and meets each Wednesday. The is a fee for participation in this program.
